Consumer champion points the finger at UK's top furniture retailers

26.07.2010

Britain's leading furniture and bed retail chains are promoting misleading sales and discounts to consumers with goods either permanently on sale or offered at sale prices for longer than at full price.

That is the view of Which?, the independent consumer affairs champion, which says consumers should treat furniture retailers' sales with cynicism and that Government should move to shake-up promotional guidelines.

The August issue of Which? magazine will point the finger at retailers including Dreams, Bensons for Beds, Furniture Village, Harveys, Sleepmasters, DFS and ScS, after a 32-week price study and consumer poll.

It says it is passing its findings on to the OFT and the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.
