Floor firm cops flak from online blog and attracts Trading Standards investigation
1st July 2009 | flooring | A Yorkshire flooring company that owes thousands of pounds to suppliers and customers is being investigated by Trading Standards and pilloried on the Internet by its alleged victims.
Rustic Wood Flooring Company, which trades as Warmawood, is the subject of an online blog set up by a customer who says he hasn’t received his order despite handing over nearly £2,000. Others claim they are owed far more, and local press reports say Eastern European wood floor manufacturers could be out of pocket to the tune of £100,000.
Warmawood claimed to be the only supplier of engineered wood flooring recommended by the underfloor heating industry. It is thought the firm has stopped trading, but no official record of its failure has yet been registered.
Following the launch of the website – www.irate-about-warmawood.com - many more customers have come forward to put forward their views and grievances. It is thought one former Warmawood employee has also used the site as a means to promote his own newly formed business – supplying engineered wood floors.
