Sales dip fails to prevent 7% profits uplift for Walmsley's Furnishing

Furniture retail chain Walmsley's improved its operating return by 6.9% last year despite a 10% fall in turnover.
The company, which has almost 70 stores located across the UK, made an operating profit of a shade under £0.3m on sales of £27.4m in the 12 months to 30th April.
The prior year Walmsley's reported earnings of £0.27m on a £30.4m turnover. The bulk of the retailer's stores are located in the north, midlands and Scotland, with just a handful of units in southern England. It opened two stores during the trading period, relocating another.
