Half year sales fall 7.8% for carpet manufacturer
9th November 2009 | flooring | Six months sales for British carpet manufacturer Victoria have fallen by 7.8% to £30.17m with operating profits more than halving to £0.52m.
The manufacturer says its Irish operation traded at a loss compared to positive trading in the UK and Australia. Sales in Ireland were down by 50.6%.
Victoria says falls in sales in the residential sector appear to be easing, but there is yet to be any let up in the weakened demand for contract floorcoverings.
The firm reduced net debt during the period by £1.96m to £9.47m.
