Glasgow furniture retailer doubles store portfolio following Artisan acquisition

24th November 2009 | independents | Scottish furniture retailer The Store has opened a second outlet after picking up one of the Glasgow stores of collapsed retailer Artisan Furniture. Seven-store Artisan went into administration in September, leaving more than 1,000 customers unsure if they would see their deposit money again.

The 6,000sq ft Cogan Road former Artisan site reopened earlier this month after The Store owners Arun and Ashoke Pasi contacted the landlord to enquire about its availability. The have rebranded it The Store, and are selling mainly oak furniture and accessories including lamps and art.

The Store's existing 22,000sq ft outlet is located on the North side of the city, and also includes the firm's warehouse.

Arun Pasi told the Furnishing Report that they had also taken on former staff members from another failed retailer, Colonial, to man the new outlet.
