Mattress squabble as Tempur accuses rivals of copyright infringement
16th June 2009 | beds | The parent companies of bed and mattress brands Tempur Pedic, Simmons, Sealy and Carpenter face a legal battle after the former accused the others of infringing its copyright.
Tempur-Pedic, which pioneered the growth in memory foam sales, has filed suit against 14 mattress manufacturers in the USA, saying rival firms had violated a US patent covering mattresses using layers of foam.
The companies are expected to contest the accusations.
