Sofa Workshop vows to rebuild online sales and restore former glories

13th February | retail | Andrew Cussins says he will build ‘significant online business’ at Sofa Workshop and plans to eventually open stores in the north of England.

Sofa Workshop founder Cussins saved a third of the stores two weeks ago, after the firm went into administration earlier in January.  He bought the company’s London stores and half a dozen others, the majority of which are in the south east.

Cussins says he will use the Internet in the short term to target customers unable to shop instore, and will eventually embark on a store-opening programme.

In its heyday, Sofa Workshop ran a successful mail order and online operation – which was discarded by MFI soon after it bought the business in 2002.
