Hong Kong furniture manufacturer snaps up UK distributor; Ruddiman to focus on online venture

8th June 2009 | supply | Furniture supplier Ruddiman Furniture has been sold to Origin Red, a Hong Kong furniture and accessories manufacturer. The two firms have had a strong relationship spanning two decades.

David Ruddiman, chairman, will now focus on his new Internet trading platform, Your Department Store, which partners with independent retailers by providing them with a fully managed ecommerce website.

Origin Red boss Jon Veitch said he hoped to leverage the 43-year-old Ruddiman Furniture brand in the UK by utilising his own firm’s strength in furniture design and manufacturing.
