London department store group targets Roomes of Upminster acquisition

1st June 2009 | retail | The department store business of Roomes of Upminster has become part of the Morleys stores group, the parent company to AIS members Elys, Bodgers, and Smith Brothers. The Roomes furniture store is not part of the deal, and will be run separately by Michael and Steven Roome.

The sale of the department store was confirmed early this week, with the retailer becoming the department store chain’s sixth outlet. It joins others in Wimbledon, Ilford, Islington, Tooting and Brixton.

Roomes of Upminster is a full category department store while the furniture outlet is one of East London’s largest home retailers.
