Sheffield independent picks up order book of failed North East retailer
16th June 2009 | retail | Sheffield furniture retailer Ponsford has stepped in to fulfil some of the outstanding orders of Newcastle and Sunderland independent World Furnishings, which ceased trading at the end of April.
The firm, which has no association with World Furnishings, has agreed to supply goods at a reduced rate, and in some cases absorb the cost of lost deposits.
World Furnishing closed without warning in April and joint liquidator Taylor Rowlands has revealed the firm had debts of £750,000 – including £160,000 owed to suppliers.
