Nathan up 25% as it buys new Nottingham design hub

23rd December 2009 | furniture | Cabinet supplier Nathan Furniture is to offer specials and customised ranges after buying a 4,000sq ft manufacturing facility near Nottingham.

The building was formerly used by fellow cabinet firm Beaver & Tapley.

Nathan will also use the site as a design and prototyping hub, with md Andrew Cochrane saying he expects the firm to develop ranges in a third of the time it currently takes, as well as saving the firm money.

The firm's ranges are manufactured in the Far East, and development, he says, can be a lengthy process, with several visits required before a product is ready to be brought to market.

Cochrane said, "The main message we will be putting to stockists is that we can produce one-offs for customers, so if a customer wants a bookcase in a special width, or a different colour, we'll be able to produce it for them.'

He added that 2009 had seen the firm grow sales by a quarter, from a mix of underlying sales growth and new and returning accounts.
