Furniture MP denies allegations of expenses wrongdoing

19th May 2009 | Politics | Madeleine Moon MP, the chair of the All Parliamentary Furniture Group, has rebuffed allegations in the Telegraph newspaper that furnishing expenses claimed back for her second home in London were actually bought for her constituency home in Wales.

The MP for Bridgend, who was named Furniture Parliamentarian of the Year by the British Furniture Confederation for her part in raising the profile of issues affecting the UK furniture industry, says the goods were bought locally in Wales and then transported to the London home, insisting she was supporting the local economy.

The furniture and furnishings were bought, according to the Telegraph, in shops including Ikea, Dunelm Mill, and Marks & Spencer.
