DeCoro deputy hints at manufacturing return for firm’s founder
30th January | upholstery | The executive vice president of defunct upholstery manufacturer DeCoro has said that the firm’s founder is mulling over plans to open a new factory in the near future. It is not known if the plant would be in China, where DeCoro's manufacturing facilities were located.
Heath Corso indicated to the US furniture trade press, including Home Furnishings Business magazine, that DeCoro founder Luca Ricci plans to return to the industry with an as yet unnamed manufacturing business. He also confirmed that DeCoro’s US office would remain open for an unspecified number of weeks while staff tried to process outstanding orders before winding up.
DeCoro entered a voluntary liquidation process earlier this month. The impact of DeCoro’s closure will be more keenly felt in the US, where it did the bulk of its business. Though historically it has been a major player in the UK upholstery sector, it is thought it had only recently stepped up efforts to rebuild its UK stockist base. The firm ceased trading days before it was due to exhibit at Interiors Birmingham.
