19-store Lombok pre-packs its way out of trouble; 5 stores shelved

29th July 2009 | retail | Ethnic furniture retailer Lombok has closed five stores after undergoing a pre-packaged administration that has led to a quarter of the firm’s workforce losing their jobs.

A consortium led by Privet Capital and Paradigm has taken over from the previous owner, Pi Capital, with senior management remaining in place.

Batley, the firm’s only store in the North, has been closed, along with others in Cambridge, Bristol, Reading, and Notting Hill in London.

The retailer majors in Eastern inspired cabinet ranges, in dark timber hues. The firm also made its first move into lighter blond woods earlier this year.

The majority of its 14 remaining stores are in London.
