Contract furniture firm to make further redundancies as it seeks to downsize
12th August 2009 | contract | Office furniture manufacturer Lee & Plumpton has written to employees to find candidates for voluntary redundancy. The Norfolk supplier shed 43 jobs at the end of 2008, and now needs to take a further eight positions off the payroll.
The firm said it needed to cut costs and continue to downsize the business in light of tough trading conditions. It is already operating a four-day week.
Lee & Plumpton manufactures desks and storage cabinets for offices and operates from a 200,000sq ft factory in Attleborough. The firm made a profit of £524,791 in the year to 29th February last year – up from £374,155 in 2007.
