Better outlook for Dutch owned UK upholstery manufacturer as staff return to full time working

5th June 2009 | upholstery | Staff at sofa manufacturer Lebus Upholstery have returned to a five day week after feared sales falls did not materialise. The Scunthorpe based volume supplier had spent four months with staff working a four-day week in anticipation of lower orders.

But finance director Darrell Bettany has been reported as saying that demand had not fallen as much as was feared and the company’s order book had grown significantly.

Lebus Upholstery returned a £248,000 pre-tax profit on sales of £22m in its latest reported accounts. Dutch furniture manufacturer Tornado Meubelen (furniture) has a 70% stake in the business.
