Kitchen and bathroom trade struggle to find like for like insurance scheme after losing 100% coverage

24th July 2009 | insurance | The trade body representing the KBB industry is trying to find an alternative insurance provider for its members after its previous cover supplier withdrew to concentrate on its core business.

HCCI, an insurance company, pulled out of a scheme to provide 100% coverage to the Kitchen and Bathroom Specialists Association (KBSA) membership earlier in the summer, but the firm that stepped in to its place has subsequently been found not to be providing like for like benefits.

According to trade paper KBB Review, members have reacted with a mix of confusion and anger, for they believed they had been offering products and services with 100% insurance coverage of the contract value – one of the cornerstones of the KBSA membership.

The KBSA says it is working hard to find an alternative, but the change in the economic climate has made it much harder to find a firm willing to offer the level of commitment equivalent to that previously provided by HCCI.
