Luxury vinyl firm fined for falling foul of packaging regs
23.07.2010
Worcestershire based flooring supplier Karndean International has had its knuckles rapped for failing to meet packaging waste regulations.
The company pleased guilty to nine charges at Worcester Magistrates Court this week, and was fined almost £40k, which included paying compensation to the Environment Agency.
All £2m+ turnover companies that handle in excess of 50 tonnes of packaging each year are required to register with the Environment Agency or with a recognised scheme.
Karndean is among the most profitable companies in the home furnishings sector, posting group profits before tax over £5m in each of the past five recorded years.
