Danish furniture giant puts down £2.4m marker for its UK operation

One of the world's largest furniture retailers posted sales of £2.45m in its first full year of trading from its four UK stores.
Jysk, a privately owned Danish retailer with global sales of almost £2bn through 1,600 stores worldwide, trades in the UK through showrooms in Blackburn, Mansfield, Lincoln and York.
When it entered the UK market in 2008, Jysk said it hoped to open 25 stores a year for the next 20 years.
The company sells across the full home portfolio targeting value seeking shoppers from stores around 1,000sq ft in size. UK sales in its prior financial trading period, for the five months to 31st August 2008, had stood at £1.01m.
