John Lewis steps up modern offer; Recruitment drive for Poole home store starts

20th July 2009 | retail | Department store retailer John Lewis will put modern furniture at the heart of its strategy with the introduction of four ‘designer’ brands this Autumn.

The retailer is to stock the Kartell, Case Furniture, Vitra and Content by Conran brands for the first time – with product floored in its flagship Oxford Street, London store and also available via the Internet.

The firms, especially Kartell, Case and Vitra, are known for using top design names including Robin Day, Philippe Starck and PearsonLloyd.

Separately, the retailer has also started its campaign to staff its first dedicated home store, in Poole. The firm is searching for about 100 employees for John Lewis at Home, which will open in the seaside town this Autumn.
