Winter sale disappoints for John Lewis of Hungerford

26th May 2009 | kitchens | Turnover dropped by a quarter at kitchen manufacturer and retailer John Lewis of Hungerford in the half year to 28th February.

The 11-store firm reported sales of £1.6m compared to £2.1m in the same period last year, with the bulk of the shortfall accounted for during its Winter sale.

The firm says things are looking better for the second half, and it expects to record a 10% climb in revenues during the third quarter. John Lewis of Hungerford trades mainly across southern England, with just two northern stores, in Wilmslow and Harrogate.
