Italian Government includes furniture in stimulus package
9th February | international | Italian consumers will receive tax breaks for buying furniture as part of a far reaching stimulus package aimed at reviving the consumer goods market in Italy.
Furniture, together with domestic appliances and motor cars, are included in the scheme that allows customers to gain a tax rebate of up to 20% on qualifying purchases in 2009.
However, in order to benefit from the furniture incentive, customers will have to spend at least 10,000 Euros and use the goods as part of a qualifying refurbishment project. The scheme is aimed at encouraging home-owners and investors to continue to renovate old and often disused homes.
