‘No furniture market is suffering more than the UK,’ says Ikea boss

15th May 2009 | UK | Outgoing Ikea chief Anders Dahlvig says the UK furniture market is suffering more than any other and is the worst he has ever seen it.

Dahlvig told industry magazine Retail Week that its UK sales were suffering more than in any other in which it operates, and that high profile collapses in the UK market such as MFI were not being replicated in other countries worldwide.

He said, ‘The longer this recession goes on, the more collapses we will see, mainly independents but also bigger retailers too,’ he said. Dahlvig leaves his post as ceo in September.
