North West furniture giant Housing Units to open clearance store
4th November 2009 | independents | One of the country's largest home furnishings independents is to launch a discount store selling a combination of ex-display and specially sourced value lines.
Manchester retailer Housing Units will open The Furniture Outlet on its Failsworth Retail Park site, in a push to chase what it calls 'post recession opportunity.'
A third of the stock will be ex-display models and clearance lines, but the majority will be budget furnishings sourced from across the world.
The retailer says the move should attract a more diverse clientele to the group and that it hopes in time to graduate value seeking shoppers to its core premium offer.
Other major indies, including West Midlands retailer Lee Longlands and Colchester furniture retailer Hatfields have carried out similar strategies in recent times.
