Bed manufacturer reverses 2007 losses following 19% turnover climb
8th September 2009 | beds | Yorkshire divan and mattress firm Highgate Beds has returned to profit after sales climbed by almost a fifth to £9.78m. The firm made a pre-tax profit of £35,900 - compared to a pre-tax loss of £793,648 the year before.
The figures relate to the 12 month period to the end of last summer in documents just filed at Companies House. The Dewsbury manufacturer operates a number of brands including its visco elastic Healthopedic range and its Sleepwise brand for childrens beds.
Highgate's accounts also show a rise in its payroll costs, with a 2008 outlay of £2.69m up £150,000 on 2007, despite average staff numbers falling by 26 people to 121.
In 2006, Highgate returned a pre-tax profit of £376,600 on sales of £8.98m.
