Like for like sales jump 5% for value soft furnishings retailer; Overall sales pass £400m

13th July 2009 | homeware | Soft furnishings chain Dunelm Mill increased like for like sales by 5% in the six months to 27th June.  Overall sales in the 26 weeks climbed 10.7% to £215.2m.

The 94-store retail group attributed the rises to improved retail execution and opportunistic advertising in local media – taking advantage of the depressed print media advertising market to secure better page rates.

The company’s results for the year show a 6.3% overall sales improvement to £417m and a 0.5% like for like turnover decrease.

Dunelm has signed lease agreements on 10 new stores for its 2010 financial year, and confirmed that it has bought the freehold on two its stores, for a combined £7.3m.
