Clement Joscelyne says buy British, as it switches flagship store from Bishop's Stortford to Cambridge

15th September 2009 | retail | East of England furniture independent Clement Joscelyne will move its headquarters to a former department store in the heart of Cambridge in November, leaving just a small giftware store in the Hertfordshire town where it had been based for 130 years.

The retailer, which also has own brand stores in Hitchin, Bury St Edmonds and Brentwood, is currently pushing its British suppliers, flagging them up in store and online and issuing a statement saying now is the time to buy British, thanks to exchange rates making local products better value and a more ecologically sound purchase.

Long Eaton based luxury sofa manufacturer Parker & Farr currently takes centre stage on the firm's website (15/9/09).

The move into the larger Fitzroy Street premises in Cambridge is expected to create up to 20 jobs in the city, although Clement Joscelyne is hoping to retain some of the staff from the existing Bishop's Stortford store.

The Clement Joscelyne Group also runs stores for Ligne Roset, German brand Hulsta, and upmarket London firm Charles Page Interiors.
