01.09.2010
Factory output in China increased last month, according to official statistics released this morning. The Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) for August came in at 51.7, a half point improvement on July.
Figures above 50 in the PMI index denote growth, while sub-50 scores indicate a contraction in manufacturing activity. The 51.7 score ends a three month consecutive run of slowing growth.
