High Street sales rise in early August, says CBI survey
31.08.2010
More than half of all retailers saw annual sales growth in the first two weeks of August, with less than a fifth reporting contracting sales volumes, according to the latest CBI Distributive Trades Survey.
The monitor, which took place between 27th July and 11th August, asks retailers if sales are growing, falling or remaining broadly the same. A balance of 35% said sales were improving, up from a +33% balance in July.
Looking forward, a balance of +39% are expecting sales to rise in September, according to the CBI.
