Carpet trade targets 25% recycling rate
4th March 2010
The UK carpet industry is to challenge itself to reduce waste with a self-imposed 25% recycling target within three years.
The target is expected to form part of the National Action Plan, put together by Carpet Recycling UK, a trade body created to improve the sector's green credentials.
It is a collective of manufacturers and retailers, working in conjunction with existing trade associations and organisations affiliated to the waste reduction industry. The carpet trade currently recycles about 2% of the total carpet waste produced annually.
