Retail sales rise; But growth still disappoints

8th December 2009 | sales | UK retail sales grew nearly 2% in November, but the like for like uplift masks the weak comparative performance of 2008 when sales collapsed following the banking crisis.

According to the British Retail Consortium's monthly retail sales monitor, furniture and carpets sales were among those to register a year on year rise, but again at much lower levels than had been anticipated.

Last November was the second worst sales month of the year in 2008, and expectations had been high for stronger year on year growth this time around.
