Bensons for Beds LoL concessions continue to trade – Carrahar: ‘We may form new agreement’
13th January | concessions | Bensons for Beds md Bill Carrahar says the retailer intends to continue to trade its 14 stores that operate from within Land of Leather outlets while the upholstery chain is in administration, and that it may look to form a new agreement with its eventual new owners.
Phone calls to Bensons' concessions yesterday revealed that stores have been inundated with consumers wanting to know if the retailer had been affected by LoL’s collapse. Well briefed sales staff at two of Benson’s LoL concessions told the Furnishing Report that they were completely separate businesses and that it was business as usual, although one admitted they were receiving a ‘heck of a lot of calls.’
Bensons' md Bill Carrahar said, ‘Bensons' trades from just 14 Land of Leather stores out of a total of 202 Bensons' stores.
‘We intend to continue to trade for a minimum of the period of administration and may look to form a new concessionary agreement if the administrator succeeds in finding a buyer for the business. Our remaining 188 stores will, of course, continue to trade as normal.’
Bensons’, which was reported as seeing a 4% like for like uplift in the early part of its New Year sale, also had to cope when another of its concessionary partners, Rosebys, fell into administration late last year.
