Bedroom retailer eyes further overseas growth as sales climb 4% year on year

 

And So To Bed22nd September 2009 | retail | Bedroom furniture chain And So To Bed plans to up its overseas store portfolio and says its increased retail footprint will ensure sales growth in 2009. The retailer, which sells from across 22 UK stores including concessions in Harrods, Arighi Bianchi and House of Fraser, grew sales 4% in 2008 to £12.96m.

 

Accounts filed in the past few days show after tax profits fell by 19%, to £898k. And So To Bed also has stores in Austria and Holland and two in Dubai. It has pinpointed the Middle East and mainland Europe as target areas for future store growth.

 

The company is owned by Spanish firm Flex Equipos de Descano, along with sister firm Vi-Spring, the Devon based bed manufacturer. Vi-Spring filed accounts for the same financial period back in the Spring, recording a 5% sales climb to £29.3m but a 26% drop in pre-tax profits to £2.4m.
