Vinyl flooring firm Amtico faces £100,000 legal bill following accident
16th June 2009 | flooring | Resilient flooring manufacturer Amtico has been fined £75,000 and ordered to pay £23,721 in costs after one of its workers lost a finger in an accident at its Coventry premises.
The company, a supplier of upmarket floorcoverings for both commercial and residential use, was found guilty of health and safety breaches at Coventry Crown Court, resulting in ‘life changing injuries’ for Ian Burridge, an employee of the firm.
His hand was caught between heated high-speed rollers in an accident back in 2007. The firm has since taken measures to prevent any repeat incident.
