Turnaround at Airsprung; £0.5m half year profit as turnover climbs 9%
10th December 2009 | supply | Improving sales at furniture manufacturing group Airsprung have helped the firm to a £0.47m pre-tax profit in the half year to 30th September, a £1.2m year on year turnaround for the company which in the same period in 2008 reported a £0.72m loss.
Sales have been on the rise in the past six months, 9% to £23.1m, meaning the company should better the £42.8m full year revenue it lodged at the end of March.
Bosses have warned that Christmas and New Year trading may be unpredictable, given the return to 17.5% vat and the threat of continued rising unemployment. It also warned of potential increases to its raw material cost base.
Besides Airsprung Beds, the group includes assorted furniture brands such as Gainsborough, the Windor Bed Company and Cavendish Upholstery.
